The time I spoke to congressional leaders on an elevator.

Oh, this? Yeah, these are just some papers I have been working on and hoping to publish. Enough about that. It has been hard, but I could get funding to even conduct this research. Human evolution is a very multi-disciplined field, and a lot goes into it. Understand the bones, fossils, genetic makeup, behavior, or even the culture of humans that lived millions of years ago or even just a mere thousand. Why? Why is it important that we learn about how we evolved? We can learn more about ourselves and what we have done in the past which can create a better future. Human evolution has great potential to teach people why things are the way they are and why we are here and even questions like why we can walk the way we do, but chimpanzees cannot. Or even why can a human and chimp breed, even though you heard from a source they have similar genetic makeup. Some of these questions are answered, but only with the information that is out. Their answers can be further elaborated as we find more fossils, as we determine the archaeological contexts of archaeological sites, understanding why certain bones are shaped a certain way and how that would affect them or how they would look like if they were still alive today. There are so many more questions that I cannot even fathom, but over time with more and more passionate anthropologists and evolutionary biologists who want to learn more about why we are the way we are is the only way we can uncover these secrets. To do that, we need funding to pay for our research which can involve travel, supplies, technicians, etc., and to pay for our salaries. I got lucky and got funding, although it was difficult a lot of other people could have used it for their research. With this, I hope you can investigate funding for human evolution and sorry for taking your time.

  1. i like the narrative voice you have here...i think it is always good to speak the way you do here and make it clear what we study and why it is important. I wonder how folks would respond? some Senators are well-known for trying to defund science that they think isn't imt to national defense or the economy. How can we sorta 'play the game' to make it clear how something like human evo can help the US at a time when so much debate about the role of science in popular discourse?
